What is Let’s Talk Innovation?

Let’s Talk Innovation is a multi-industry innovation conference bridging together global leaders in healthcare, technology, real estate, media and more to introduce educational resources. This education conference platform has invited several different entities annually to deliver new disruptive technology solutions to the world. We had the pleasure of attending this great event via a online virtual meeting platform and was able to capture some vital key points.

Biggest key takeaways:

  1. The art of the pivot.

Flint Stone Media serves as a media and podcast consulting firm igniting the voices of several brands. One thing we loved that the guest speaker and CEO Jaime Legagneur stated was, “Before s— hits the fan, write down your why.” Limited mobility has allowed companies to utilize this time to create podcast platforms for their businesses. In the middle of this global pandemic, we are witnessing first hand how the art of pivoting is crucial. Writing down your why serves as a reference point for you to continue on the journey of reaching your goals.

Accessible education is a solution to a problem Saron Yitbarek has been working on for quite some time. CodeNewbie started as a weekly TwitterChat to connect people learning to code by sharing tips and insight. Now it's grown into a supportive, international community of people learning to code.

Our idea is to fit education into your daily life.
— Saron Yitbarek

Saron touched on how the current events aided in introducing her disruptive technology solution Disco which is centered around the concept of education on the go. An online education platform for audio courses is a great learning alternative considering the state of the world right now. Many are at home and aren’t willing to sit in front of a computer screen to learn… which is where Disco comes in. Having a learning tool to utilize while completing household or on-the-go tasks make life that much easier.

2. Knowing every detail of your product or service is crucial.

Many innovators have great ideas and execution but may lack self awareness and education. One important detail to note is no matter your position within the company or start-up, doing the research of the ins and outs will have great impact on making or breaking a deal. Noah Miller is the VP of Gelt Financial a finance company that helps good people finance their homes and investment properties. He stated, “Anytime you are speaking with lenders of equity partners, you should know as much as possible.”

You need to be the person that knows the most about your business.
— Mae Adbelrahman

Harvard business school student and CEO of Nour Mae Adbelrahman highlights her most import asset that is helping her get through the start-up phase. While creating her skin solution Nour, finding the right people to make connections with has been very helpful.

When working towards your own goal whether it be products or services, know what you don’t know and put yourself out there to ask for help. Mae states, “You need to be the person who knows the most about your business.” A large network beyond the experts (anyone that may take interest) could be very helpful for the duration of building a company. You never know who knows someone that knows someone.

3. Finding and filling a need

When asked how they are adapting to the pandemic, founder and CEO of USDV Todd Billings touched on a great point about being very clear on what you are selling or providing. One of his companies as he describes, main deliverable is sharing love through food. Whenever there’s an issue arising, he utilizes those opportunities to provide love versus pain. “People don’t want dessert, they want to feel good and comforted inside when they eat that dessert.” Sometimes the gesture and the feeling that follows supersedes the product of service. Human interaction and experience is everything!

Todd goes on to share that through this global pandemic his fintech innovation business has fortunately thrived. He reminded us that when there is a time of crisis, that’s when you strike. While many have an influx of downtime, utilize it to create an execute. He stated, “The people that make the money are the people that execute.” We couldn’t agree more!

There are different technologies that are needed and we want to be the hub for all water solutions throughout the world.

Inspired by the devastating water crisis that is ongoing in his hometown of Flint, MI , Jonathan set out to create long term solution that the community can engage in. Quartz Water Source is committed to providing clean, sustainable water sources to communities in need while raising awareness on the global water crisis. As many of us know, clean water is a human right and not a privilege. In order to achieve the goal of quality environmental water systems we must continue to persevere.

Technology of the future is highly dependent upon the willingness of leaders that not only want to see change, but are also rooted in the why. We are excited to see what Quartz has in store!
